anyone have any experience using a drill pump for water changes

looking at an alternative for a python as they are hard to get hold of in the uk, (although i can make one from a waterbed drain kit) these are cheaper and easily obtainable.

also no waste of water.

anyone use this system?

well i got one. for £5, (bargain really)

my conclusion is.. its OK and worth having in the arsenal.

flow rate isnt too fast and obvouisly running the drill constant for 10 minutes or more can do your head in.

however it does self prime up to 3 metres and will pump all the way to the bathroom (approx 16ft) so no more buckets.

also as it doesnt pump too much will be ideal for gravel vac of my sand.

however for water changes i think it maybe easier to run from my return pump in the sump as im confident its powerful enough.

hope my experience helps anyone considering this method.
