Drilling fiberglass

I have a fiberglass pentair coming next week and i need to drill it for my drip. I have read conflicting recommendations on what type of drill bit to use with fiberglass. What are you all using? Regular hole saw or diamond coated bits?

No need for diamond bits. But do wear a good mask, you do not want glass/epoxy dust in your lungs.

I agree with Midwater and if you have a shop vac you can hold the suction tube next to the drill while you’re doing this and suck up those fibers and dust.

If it's a hole smaller than 1/2" then a normal High Speed Steel (HSS) bit should work just fine, don't go too fast as you want chips or twirls of swarf to come off rather than dust. At 1/2" or larger then a Forstner or wood spade bit with spurs would do better than a twist drill bit and you may have to run it in reverse for a little bit in order to get a start. If it's 2" or larger then hole saw is probably your only option and will work fine but again you may have to run it in reverse a bit depending on the tooth count.
