Drilling my first tank!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep, drilling holes is pretty easy. Last week I did 3 in my new 110gal. Didn't take long at all & my tank is 1/2" glass. Running water does help a lot & probably makes the bit last a lot longer too.

how did you stop the drill slipping before it held and started to cut?
If you start slow and tip it a few degrees off plumb it will not slip...
Also you can use a ring of clay stuck to the glass to hold a dam of water as well as guide the holesaw...

interesting, i would love to try driling my glass tanks but am scared as hell to do it. im very comfortable using a drill, is it really that easy??
It is so easy you'll wonder what the hell all the fuss is about. I have done it with fish still in my tank. It's really that easy!...
The only precaution to worry about, is if the glass is tempered or not.
Tempered glass cannot be drilled...
