Thinking of implementing a 1gph drip system on my 125. What's the best way to get the excess water out of the tank?

Commercial overflow? PVC overflow? Something else?

I've thought about it and there are two ways:
Option 1 is to siphon out at 1gph and have a float switch for topping off.

Option 2 is to drip in 1gph and overflow out.

I'm leaning towards option 2 because the water level never fluctuates and I don't think the float valve would be quiet (toilet tank sound is what I picture).

My big concern is that 1gph is not very much and I don't know how that affects a siphon long term.

My well tank is in a closet right next to my aquarium, and I can drain into the drain tile directly behind the tank, so those are not really major considerations. I think an overflow with a sponge would probably keep more detritus and crap out of the drain tile, which is better in the long run.

Opinions?

110% go with a CPR over flow a snall one like the 90 and an aqualifter. No PVC overflow hasn't screwed me at least once. The added piece of mind is work every penny if you cant drill the tank.

If your running a sump you have to drill the sump unless you want to mess with pumps and timers.
