how well do they really do?

ive been thinking about this lately and im wondering

how well do these actually do on a tank

do they keep nitrates hammered back in the low levels? (lets say under 20ppm)

and im talking monster fish or over stocked tanks or better yet.... both:headbang2

reapairs 265 is packed with fish, and some big fish, and I cant say anything about levels but the water is crystal clear and the fish all look healthy and happy

Ive always wondered, dont you have to gravel vac the bottom of your tank still if you have a drip system???

Or is it that a drip system works best with a bare bottom tank???

i would assume the bare bottom would work best.

but even with a drip

i would think weekly gravel vacs are nessesary

unless you have ALOT of water flow so nothing ever gets to settle on the bottom

My 265 runs in the 10s

I hadn't changed water or gravel vaced in 5 months and I ran into the problem that the water started to smell and I thought that maybe it was just that tank and then I noticed that my 300s water started to get an oder and it was caused by anarobic bacteria so if you use a drip system I recomend doing a grvel vac every 2 or 3 months even though the water tests great.

My bare bottom tanks don't seem to have this problem.
