Just had my first kid and needless to say my free time has been drastically reduced . So it's finally the kick in my butt I needed to get a drip system going. I have most of it figured out except what you guys are using to filter your tap water before it enters the tank. Like a carbon filter or what have you. Any feedback or links to the model you are using will be much appreciated. Thank you.

It all depends on your tap water source, well or city ? Chlorine or Chloramine ?

I use presediment filter 1u, two carbon blocks and cation resin cartridge in that order.
My city water is nitrate and chloramine heavy..

This has been discussed quite a bit since the Filter Guys went out of business recently. We're all looking around for new sources for filter cartridges, and learning about what we need to order, sediment pre-filters, etc.

It's a lot of info, and it's a little bit complicated, and the whole thing is difficult reading here on MFK because the discussions are product recommendations, build threads for new filter systems, and some discussions of chemistry and water parameters, all mixed together in different threads over the last 6 months.

I'm gonna keep it real simple, and just throw out a recommendation. This is VERY close to the chlorine/chloramine filter I've been running for years now from the Filter Guys.

There are replacement cartridges for this all over the internet. Just remember 2 things.

1. You must use a sediment filter inline to remove sediment from water that is going into the next 2 housings that hold your activated carbon filter cartridges.
2. If you have chloramines in your water supply (very likely that you do), use an "activated carbon filter" that "removes chlorine and chloramines".

Hope this helps. Looking forward to hearing what everyone else has found out.

Here are some links to recent discussions about all this....

Awesome thank you so much ! I haven't been on here recently and must missed out on all of the recent threads going on here. This definitely helps out a lot and I really appreciate the detailed response. I will be checking out these links for sure.

Check out those threads as they break everything down. The link that ragin_cajun ragin_cajun provided for filter housing is really good. I paid $27 each for unit on BRS. I went with BRS cartridges as they are specifically designed to address chlorine and chloramines and based on their video tests they work. I've tested for chlorine and chloramines coming out of the filter and they work. Now I just need to see how long the filters last.

From what I read you want to make sure you have a good sediment filter because if you dont, it will just clog up the carbon filters quicker.

Well here it is all up and running . Please let me know if you see anything I missed or should do different. Only issues have been some drops of water around the carbon filter fittings. I think got that fixed though. Also before the drip emitter line I have a pressure reducer that is rated at 25 psi. And no pictures but in my sump I have drain line connected to my sewer line.
