Drip System Rate

If you can't get that drain to work well you could use a small pump and a float switch. I've got some pix of mine somewhere if you're interested.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw your pics and a couple other members pics of their drip systems. That's what inspired me to build one myself. I was hoping to avoid using a pump though, but if I have to, I was going to use a condenser pump like my furnace uses to remove condensation. They go for about $50 @ home depot/lowes.

Why are you using such a small hose for the drain? You could put a T in the 3/8 line further down stream for a pressure relief within the tube. Kinda like the drain system in your house.

You could also just use larger tubing, that would solve the problem. The adhesion properties of the water molecules would not be enough to bridge larger tubing which is what it happening in the 3/8. A Breather tube explained above should help it.

Thanks for the help. I was using the 3/8 tubing because it runs along the floor across a high traffic doorway and it can easily be covered with a rug. If i would have used larger PVC it will be in the way. I decided to just go ahead and get a pump and run the line from the pump over the doorway so now both problems are solved. It's a condensation pump for a furnace. Although it's pretty loud, it only fills up and runs about 2x an hour for about 30 seconds.
