The 40ppm I had was technically low enough, and to be honest I would be happy with 20 or 30 ppm. My tap has 20ppm from the facet, much higher then whats in the report from the water company.
So far I have only ordered the chloramine filter, I may say forget the RO/DI If I can't find a reasonable solution to reconstituting the water. Alot of the times I just get board and need something fun to do and adding to my tank is fun and if it helps the fish even a little thats good. But normally what happens is I find it to costly and decide to scale back, I dream big, then dive in and go monster; only to realize being monster means providing the best care without breaking yourself.
