i'm in process of setting a 300gal up and would love to add a drip system.. problem with me is that i'm in a municipal water system and very year around fall my aro's slim shedding off when i do water change so that is why i want to set this new tank with a drip system.. my other concern is where shall i drip the water to sump or tank? also where do i need to set the drain pipe at sump or show tank?? if i put it at the sump i have to set a condensate pump to drip off to pump.. if i put the drain pipe at the show tank i have to drill a hole on the back of the tank and let it run off.. drip off with municipal water system always have chlorine and other chemicals what i need to do?? can i do without it since it's dripping so slowly... about 2-3gph..

I prefiltered my tap water with a chlorine/chloramine filter from thefilterguys.biz. Worked great.

I dripped directly into the sump, although it doesn't make much difference where you drip. It's all going to the same place anyway.

okay.. now where shall i drain out the excess water?? i hear that i should drill a hole on the overflow section of the tank and make a pipe stick up to the point where water is excess but i dont want to drill a hole at the back of the tank's overflow.. it's a 300 gal deep dimension by marineland tank..i was thinking of the sump section but not sure will it work..

Run city water thru an home water filter setup to remove all chemicals. Then you will need a water regulator to decrease water pressure that will be flowed thru drip emitters. I would drip it right into the top of main tank. All of this stuff you can get from
Lowes or Home Depot. As for draining it. There are different ways to do this. First you can drill the sump at the level you plan on keeping water at and run a drain line out of that hole to a floor drain or outside or wherever you plan on doing it. I never drilled my sump so I set up a mag drive 9 to a float switch inside my sump. Once sump reaches a certain level the pump kicks on and pumps water onto my lawn.

Don't get a regulator or drip emitters, go to the store and get a toilet valve, use that to drip your water at whatever rate you want, for a drain put it into your sump, drill a hole as low but as high as needed to have a gravity feed to your drain, needs to fall 1/4 inch per foot, at least that normal plumbing code. My setup works great, I live it. Pm me if you want more details. uploadfromtaptalk1373220040472.jpguploadfromtaptalk1373220091837.jpguploadfromtaptalk1373220140474.jpg

I drip cold and hot water and actually heat my system with it. Mine has been going 9 months now

I tried that on mine. The hot water made the system cloudy. You don't have a problem with that?
What I did was cap off one end of a piece of PVC, put the drip emitter all the way in (to the cap), and stuck a small aquarium heater in it. Stand it on end, drip in cold water and let warm water overflow.
