Still researching a 24/7 drip sytem and was thinking of putting some kind of R.O unit on the new freshwater supply to the tank. I want to remove any chlorine so was thinking of adding just one stage of a unit. Am i right in thinking it is the first (carbon) pod on a system that removes this ?

check your water company if they use chloramine
I like that....simple, but effective

you can actually use normal dinking filters. they are cheaper and mine removes 99.99% of chlorine and flourine/ide i forget which one. i use that every time i make a water change and the best part is my aquarium is in the kitchen so i use a hose from filtered tap to the tank works beautifully

Li has a good point. A carbon filter fine when you only have chlorine, but if you have chloramine you've got an entirely different issue.

chlorine -> carbon filter
chloramine -> chemical

check your water company... then pick which way to go... chemical treating will cost abit a more in the inital setup up... such as getting a doser and conditioners...
