drip tray for a wet/dry

I use drawers out of a small Rubbermaid three-drawer organizer. And yes, my filter is ghetto but it took 20 minutes to build and keeps my rays happy :)

Found a few online places that sell plastic pegboard. One site described the holes as 1/4". I think this may be too big for my application. I have forgotten how big the holes are that I drilled in my acrylic sheet, but I think they are smaller than 1/4". May have to go with the abs plastic sheet.

As it is now, only about half of the holes I drilled have water going through them on my drip tray. I figure if the holes are smaller, the water will spread out more evenly on the tray. Would 1/8" holes work better?

Someone mentioned side walls on the tray. This had crossed my mind and I think I will try to make some. The current tray fits in well in the end with the most flow so there isn't too much water seeping around it.

White plastic pegboard. You can get it at Lowe's for $11.

wow thats alot of bio material in there or atleats it looks like alot lol, what size of sump is that ? and how do you get the water to "drip" across the entire bio material, and what do you use to filter out dirt/poop before it hit the bio there ? i like that setup nice and simple and effective and easy to maintan

ya start with small holes and then test it, and oh i can a size bigger then test again.... do that until you are happy with the flow/drip amount you get from the tray :) ya can always take material away but ya can never add it back lol

most glass /plastic shops carry Lexan which is just like plexi glass but you can drill it and use regular silicone on it rather than acrylic you'd have to weld it together in reguards to making a lip along the outter rim

^ Yes, but you would still have to cut it to fit, and drill it, and it will still warp. Unnecessary since pond liner exists.
