Oh cool. I have my eyes set on an inscriptus someday...He's one of a kindlol
He's got a bit more yellow on the fins than is usual for one this size, but he's really not anything too special. SA arowanas look best under bright, direct lighting. I run that kind of lighting specifically to make this fish look nice. Under normal lighting, he looks drab and boring like every other black aro.
Here's a comparo shot taken right now with the cell phone (batts dead on the good camera). It's both under my good lights and again with the good lights turned off and 'regular' aquarium lights turned on. It's shocking the difference lighting makes.

I haven't updated this thread in a year because the Nikon died and I haven't gotten around to sending it in for service, but since I posted pics of my new gar, I felt compelled to take pics of Drogo II. He was about 12" in the pics before, he's 18-20" now. He's delightfully grumpy but social (and nearly impossible to photograph with my phone because he HATES cameras for some reason). I love this fish!
