Is this common? My silver arow is 8.5" and looks great and eats great on krill, but has a developing drop eye on one eye. Is this normal?

I don't know that seems a little early to already be getting DE

mine is starting to get it to at the same size...i heard it might be from to much fat intake but im not sure

At that size it can get DE...do not worry about it, because 95% of ours all have DE in one or the other ( or both ) eyes.

No one really knows for sure how it's caused, just theories. I can reassure you though that kril is very low in fat. There are also suposed home remedies for curing it such as putting your tank on the floor forcing your aro to stare up more often, floating a ping pong fall, putting your fish in a decent sized pond or corrective surgery. Though surgery is the only shure fire remedy, but like you probably know an arowana can live a healthy long life in aquaria with de.

there is many factors for drop eye...
i reckon 90% chance of any silver to get drop eye if kept in an aquarium.
so yeh most of them do get it.

do you have a lot of movement below tank level?
I think they get it from looking at action below the tank level.

They need to make a Mythbusters special on "Arowana Dropeye Myths"
