Hello, I just got a 5" silver aro a couple of days ago. I have been reading that most if not all Silver Aros get drop eye.

I was wondering what is drop eye, and is there a way to prevent it?

Drop eye is when their eyes start droping and facing downward. There are many different hypothesis as to what causes it, as well as cured. I don't believe anything has ever been confirmed on either side. I just live with it with my silvers. So their eyes droop... What's the big deal?

so it isnt really that bad for them?

Hi there I have researched drop eye in Arowana as I've just got my 12" Black Arowana & I've found that it's caused by the fish constantly looking down all the time so it can be helped by either floating a brightly coloured ping pong ball on the surface to keep the fish occupied or I've been using freeze dried meal worms.

If this method really work, then there won't be any droop eye aros in the market.:D
