I just got my first Silver arowana, after some time were ive been saving for a decent tank to keep it in, which i got now, gonna upsize it to custom made tank, when it reaches a certain size, ofc.

But my question is.. After researching and browsing through serval pics/info about Silvers aro's..
Do they all get "drop eye" when adult?
as i read, its when search for food beneath, so i make sure he only gets food that stays floating until he's made quick work of it. (Frozen karil and small insects i pick up at the petstore). And will this prevent him from getting drop eye?

Not likely, seems 99.9% of all silver aros get DE. Many have theories as to why. But many of those are just pure nonsense.

I had about five silvers, and I had one of them that grew around 25 inches, and never had drop eye. So I think it can be that if you feed them only in the sarface they dont get drop eye

Drop eye is mainly caused by fatty foods such as feeder fish, fat deposits build up behind the eye pushing it forward. There are many different causes of drop eye but this is the big one.

Not likely and has yet to be proven. Why wouldn't the rest of the aro get fat? Why just the eyes? There have been many a silver aro that have developed DE, despite being on a premium top notch, all floating diet.

I don't wanna go start an argument and all like everyone else does on here but I see your point on why wouldnt the rest of the aro wouldn't get fat. But like I said fat deposits is not the only cause, jumping out, hitting the side of the tank, too much light, etc

I just fail to see how anyone can support that reasoning, especially when you believe there are other causes. What has lead you to believe the "fat foods" theory?

If it is a fatty deposit is more than likely a fatty tumor not actual fat from food.
