I have a 16" silver aro that doesn't show any signs of drop eye. at what size or age would it start to show. I know diet is believed to be one possible reason and it has seen nothing but frozen krill and frozen silversides. It started out in a 125 Gallon and is now in my 396 Gallon i have heard the size of the tank could be a factor. Am i in the clear with this or is it still possible... i have recently purchased a 13" silver with bad drop eye and i hope over time it starts to improve.

It's still possible, but there is a good chance that yours will be ok.

i have heard its from fatty tissue build up behind the eye......

has anyone else heard this ??????????????

has anyone heard of drop eye going away ????

Some aros never get drop eye. There is no plausible reason for drop eye yet. It just happens.

Yes, Drop eye has gone away with putting arowana's in great big ponds.

I had a friend that had a silver aro with droop eye. They had an idea with using a red ping pong ball for distraction on looking to the suface, and also to put gravel to make sure that any kind of reflection was'nt possible. Well, I gotta say the ping pong ball seemed like a toy for the aro and with course of over a year or so....the droop eye problem had almost seemed to go away! Just thought it might help, never hurts to try!:D

We have a 16" at the store I work at, it's perfect.

I had one that was about 30" and never developed drop eye and ate lots of fatty foods beef hart etc.. so i think it might be more from looking down all the time
