I have raised 4 Arowanas in the past and every time I've noticed drop eye was right after they smashed the top of my lid. In fact, I actually watched one of my Arowanas smash the top of the lid and his eye immediately dropped. I was wondering.... is this why pond-raised Arowanas seem not to have this problem while tank-raised Arowanas do. It's just a theory, but I wanted to see if others have had this problem.

This "theory" does sound good. To prove it everyone who currently has a silver without drop eye, go grab a small hammer or club and "Bop" your aro on the head. Please post results

It does make sense, but it really doesn't explain why silvers are still the most susceptible. Blacks do not get it very often and they are just as jumpy as silvers IMO. Perhaps it's just one of many ways.

I posted this same fact recently. It is not a theory because mine got it after he hit the glass lid.

My black aro has slammed the top of the tank a few times when I spooked him. His eyes are still perfect.
