Drop eye

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If slamming into the lid causes drop eye why is it that most silvers only get it in one eye? Odds are if they are slamming into the lid they are eventually going to hit both eyes.

in the wild arows eat small fish and insects on top of the water or hanging on branches we have all seen the nature videos

so they spend alot of time looking up for food
in tanks all the action is down or to the side

i think this causes some sort of eye strain

test: you drop the water level in your tank hang some plastic plants over the water and blackout the sides

problem is most dont show signs until they hit the 12" mark
and why the hell have them if you cant look at them

i wish i lived further south so i could justify a pond
arows look really cool from above :)

Good theory, but why does it only apply to silvers?:)

regardless of the cause we know they are more susceptible than blacks
so i would lean toward a species variation

i know my current silver is going to get it
its eye is dropping more every week

i would drop the water level in my tank but hardwater stains suck :irked:

I like this theory of the fish straining its eyes looking down causing it to get drop eye, i know a guy that has two large ones that had it. He moved them from his tank and put them in his pond, months later he took them out and their eyes had returned to normal :) , he placed them back into his aquarium and not too long after (a month or so) you could see their eyes starting to drop, he wasn't too happy :(

So far i'm going with this theory.:headbang2
