when I was around 12 I saved My 4-6 year old cousin from drowning. it was a surreal thing to see, She look so calm trying to swim to the surface but was just under. I basically walk by her and something caught my eye. It was about 4ft of water meters away from the Adults. I grab her and took her too shore and went on my way to more fun down river. It never really accord to what I did til I was a adult and saw her in person after many years.

It's great to know how to swim but that doesn't stop your chances of drowning. I learned that at a young age when I was being stupid as well and it's scary to think about it when it comes to your kids. Thanks for the article, I'm going to share it as well ;)

Yep it is true when your drowning you can't yell for help. Its happen to me once a few us were swimming in a ditch right were water was exiting from a pipe. The water was rushing really hard and fast. I got caught in a whirlpool that kept sucking my legs under and turning down under the water. I can remember swallowing water trying to stay up right felt for a second I was going to drown. I couldn't swim out of it it got me real tired out fast. Then all of a sudden I felt my friends hand grab me and pulled me out. I told him if you hadn't just done that I was drowning!

Another time I was swimming in my parents pool. There was lots of family cousins all swimming having fun. I had my oldest son at the time he was only around 8 yr old. He was learning how to swim but couldn't yet at that time. He was floating around in a floater I was in the water just couple feet from him but my back turned. My mother inlaw all sudden jumped up and was pointing pointing I turned and saw my son was bobbing up and down trying to keep his face up out of the water. He had somehow separated from the floater and was sinking trying to stay up. I grabbed him and lifted him up he was ok but that's how fast something can happen when your not looking.
