Dry ice in Fish Tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you’d end up getting bashed with angry comments. It’s just a foolish thing to do. It doesn’t do anything good in anyway. I’m not even sure there would be a “coolness” effect from it. Just odd.

Dry ice is a ton of fun to play with, but best kept away from pets of all kinds:)

Set up a 10 gallon and get some of those robot fish and put dry ice in it lol

On a small scale it probably would just be like CO2 injection turned up high. I certainly wouldn't expect it to aerate the tank significantly. As long as you have good aeration and don't go too nuts for too long and it's a big tank it probably would be fine. Shouldn't drop the PH of the tank significantly.

So I don’t know if the temperature would change or not because it turns to a gas so quickly?

I have to wrap part of the area where the two contact so that the meat doesn’t get freezer burnt or just plain cold burnt.

will displays the oxygen in the tank water. and smother the fish is what I am thinking.

Hello; Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide. It is among a few things that goes directly from a frozen state directly into a gas state skipping the liquid state.
It is very cold, much colder than water ice, It should never be handled with bare hands. I think such contact can cause frostbite.

Hello; Picture Ralphie with his tongue stuck to the very cold metal pipe in the Christmas movie. I think the moisture on your fingers would freeze the dry ice to the fingers.
