Yeah...In this case, cheaper is better.

do any of you guys have a telephoto lense? if so, which one and are you satisfied with it? the nikon d5000 does not have an auto-focus motor in the camera body. you have to buy a lense that has a motor in it in order to have the auto-focus feature.

How far you trying to shoot?

I have a 55-200 AF-s VR that I take everywhere. I also Have a 55-105 AF-s that;s also in my bag.

not far. i was considering the 55-200 AF vr. i'm just wondering if you're happy with it's performance.

Oh yeah, I'm happy with that lens. Cheap, smooth AF, no "creeping". Great lens, no doubt. That and the 55-105mm.

i have the 55-200 vr for my d60. i was extremely happy with it until i compared my tamron 90mm macro to it with identical settings. i now understand why some lenses cost more than others. buy a good body of your choosing, then buy great glass.

Yep, But it's kinda sad when the lens you want cost more then the body.

I'm a Nikon guy... but these day.. both camera are the basically similar... I suggest you go to the camera store... and try them out... check which one you like to handle the most...
