With Wife & Kids in Stafford
Well, my tax refund will be here in a couple weeks and I finally talked the wife into buying another camera so I was wondering which one I should I get. I've found an Olympus E-500, Canon Rebel XT 350, Nikon D40, and a Sony A200 all for pretty much the same price on C/L. They all come w/ the standard 28-55mm lens, except for the Olympus which also includes a 40-150mm lens. I know that the Sony will most likely not be the one, but i can't decide between them. Never really had a nice camera so I don't know what to look for. Thanks.

I've only ever used a nikon dslr, i liked them, my favorite was a d70s I've used, it was awesome and they are at a fair price. Canons do seem to take nice pictures, with a fast shutter, and everyone gives them good reviews so I'd so go with whichever one you get a better deal with

if you want cheaper, go with nikon
if you want better, go with canon.
its that easy

if you dont plan on going any further than low level hobbyist (pics of your fish, daily use, etc) the nikon will be fine for that application.
if you plan to get more serious about the hobby (upgrading lenses, etc) its better top start with the canon base.

it all depends. nikon and canon are really good brands. it just comes down to what brand you like more. i go with nikon cause i have a d3000 and its a wonderful camera
