Just get the one you like. It's all about what you like/work's best for you.

Nikon is kicking there arse!! lol (I prefer Nikon) GL

both canon/nikon have entry level aswell as pro level gear availible. Nikon has been currently producing camera body's such as D3/D3X/D3S/D700/D300, that have changed the game for photographers with ISO capability and many other benchmark features. they also produced their current line of 14-200mm 2.8 zooms (14-24,24-70,70-200 VR2) that cream ANYTHING including L glass availible, believe me i look at alot of charts and tests on everything, the 14-24 nikkor is a big favorite of canon shooters, they even made an adapter for nikon glass to canon bodies.

Nikon is good, Canon is good- both make good gear, don't get jumpy about what is the best, esp if your not educated on professional photography.

The Canon 1D MK 3 is a favorite among sports shooters for it's frame rate capability at high MP's. Canons current L's in the range of 14-200 lack the sharpness and contrast of nikon's current offerings. i respect canons offerings as i have shot both Canon/Nikon and will do so in the future.

you cant really go wrong with canon or nikon. both great camera's. and whoever said canon is better than nikon. thats just their opinion. as of late nikon has been producing better camera's in general than canon has the last few years. many professional photgraphers has moved to nikon cuz nikon has made better camera's as of late such as nikon d300/d700/d3/d3x etc etc...but heres what i would tell you. if you want built quality go with nikon. canons built quality looks cheaps and feels cheap..to me atleast. nikons cameras and lense are solid and looks and feels nice, there built like tanks. but either way they both can take quality pics. and you wont be disapointed. its just a matter of personal preference. i chose nikon because it has better built quality and looks and feels better to me.

I'd just like to get a DSLR with the lcd screen that swivels for taking some angle shots or something like that. I know nikon has the d5000x that does that. I don't know if another one is better.
