DSLR on a budget?

Thanks again everyone. This is my first DSLR so I'll use this camera as my teacher. I've already told my husband what I want for Christmas! I'm sure he'll get me a nice DSLR then.


I suggest you encourage him to get you the above 2 lenses, and an external flash for this christmas.
those will keep the value for years and can be used on the next camera you get in a couple years.

if you are going to get a new DSLR, i suggest the 7000 over the 3100 or 5100.
the 7000 will use every lens Nikon has made, the 3100 and 5100 can't.
 
Well the camera is here! Thank you to everyone who gave me advice. I haven't really played with or learned the settings on it yet but here are a few of my first pictures with my first DSLR! Any tips/ponters would be very welcomed :)

Congrats on your first DSLR! keep on shooting, and shoot frequently. Get used to it and before you know it, you'll be producing super quality pictures.
