I agree that it's a bit unusual for most to do two tanks in the wall next to one another instead of one big tank. I really like what you've done because it still looks like a single tank. Same gravel & scaping style in both tanks did the trick, plus you have the advantage of isolating fish. Very cool!
I would have went with a single tank but I got these for 20 bucks each. I can also keep aggressive fish in one and neon's in the other. I just today swapped the rocks in the right side for driftwood, so I now have a dual them, but still natural.
