it's not necessary to feed live ducklings in home aquaria. and i really don't think there are a lot of ducks hanging out in the Amazon... i could be wrong. all of the videos of arowana in the wild shows them eating bugs.. not birds or mice.

Wow, that is really excessive...

I know that they do eat small birds and small bats in the wild, but all of those are much smaller than the duckling in the video. I'm pretty sure that a few duck species occur in the Amazon, and their young are much smaller than the typical common mallard duckling or other domestic ducklings which are descended from the mallard.

I get the feeling that this thread's going to blow up and end up closed in no time, though...

i see no point in it besides being cruel there is no need for that period

Feedings such as this have no use except to entertain the sick morbid mind of this particular fish keeper. :thumbsdow

Its the food cycle, so this is natural in all circumstances. But like you I am not impressed nor feel it is needed to feed a live duckling to your fish. If it was dead (not because you killed it) then that does more justice but overall not pleased with the video.

This is natural and part of the food cycle out in nature. This is an aquarium kept fish and an owner introducing the duckling into the tank with no chance of surviving. IMO that's quite a big difference from the food cycle that takes place in nature.

Agreed. I remember seeing this video quite a while ago. It's been up for a long time and is pretty cruel IMO. What's with all the people making threads about feeding live rodents and birds to fish... Pellets people. They are made to provide your pet the maximum nutrition so if you prefer feed them a live duckling or mouse I can't see any other reason than wanting to watch... Which doesn't surprise me now a days, but is still quite disturbing...

Also I'm sure the bones/hair/etc can't digest in your pets system as well as pellets, and it certainly pollutes your water more than a pellet no doubt. :thumbsdow

disgusting .....I've seen another video where some idiot threw a perfectly healthy tiger oscar to piranhas to be ripped to pieces justifying that it occurs in the wild (which is complete BS since piranhas are preying on distressed/dead fish/animals )

its just .......................................................... stupid !
