Did the mama duck let you touch the babies at all?

Sorry to bump this:

No, she is VERY protective of her babies. She's was ticked off when I was taking the pics. If you get too close or try to help one of the babies when they would get stuck or something, she would fly at yah. She's a very good mom and has raised over 80 babies.

I bought her and her mate about 8 years ago. I clipped there wings the first year but then let them go as they pleased. She is kind of a wild mallard that will come to my house now in the spring to raise her babies and then fly to the lake down the street in the fall when her babies are old enough.

a lady goes to the supermarket next to the lfs i work at and she takes papaya home for her ducks that the super market is getting rid of and rinses them really well...i assume they enjoy that as well...she has been doing that for a year now

Well considering I work at a grocery store that shouldn't be hard for me to do. Thanks.

I used to feed my chickens boiled chicken. every once in a while.
but as a real treat i would feed them meal worms.
I assume ducks wont like chicken. but you might could try mealworms

Actually I was feeding them left over spikes the other day from fishing. They liked them. They also like eating the duckweed from my pond...go figure lol.

if u feed them meal worms, cut the heads off.

Doesn't matter with birds because they don't have a stomach and it passes within minutes.

Um why? Mealworms die as soon as they hit the water...
