is there any way to safely remove duckweed out of my pond? there is to much and the pond too big to just scoop it out. i have been raking it out every chance i get and cannot seem to put a dent in it. i know they sell this stuff at the pet store, wish someone here needed it !!! anyway maybe there is a fish safe chemical? thanks

if your scooping it, you have to get it all in order to make any sort of dent. It mutliplies (as you now know) at an extremely fast rate!

Overflowing the pond can work to keep the duckweeds out of the pond. This is not appropriate if your pond is near other water sources such as lakes as the duckweeds are pests and can clog waterways.

Duckweed is a floater, so it won't be adding any O2 to the water.

I like the flooding method... Maybe a dark colored tarp placed in areas to block out light and smother it could work. You would still have to remove the dead plants mechanically as to not unbalance the BB.
