so if i grow more from what i got from the swamp wont the bacteria and parasites still be alive on the new plants or will they eventually die off?
You can sterilize the plants with a bleach solution. One part bleach to 19 parts water. Soak the plants for one to three minutes. Works for most any aquatic plant. After soaking, rinse plant in fresh water before adding to aquarium.
Why is it risky? Simple to do.

You don't put the bleach in the tank. You put the bleach solution in a plastic bag or bucket. Dip the plants for a couple of minutes. Rinse off plants in freshwater, then add plants to tank. It's just I never use bleach in my tanks and am worried it would hurt my fish.
