Aqua Advisor alerts you if you say you have clown loaches in your tank:

WARNING: Clown loaches may "play dead" at times.

Heh.

Ha! Collective knowledge is a beautiful thing... Whoever runs that site probably just trolls around MFK 24/7 posing as some 13-year old kid from Idaho, then pastes all the info he collects up to his site.

well said !

Totally normal. They're like dogs- busy moving all over the place looking for food OR laying down for a siesta.

I love that loaches do this, its how u know there comfy. My Y. modesta lays on his side all day long till about 7pm then he sneeks out slowly in the shadows and darts back to the safety of his stump often. Fast as a trout, sometimes all I see is gravel flyin around. I think I am going to get some Skunks. Fun fish.

Hey Brian that is normal they usually play dead lol my 9" clown loach loves doing that plus you'll sometimes here clicking sound when they are happy and contented.

Not only do my clowns do this but my polkadot loaches seem to do the same maybe they copied it off the clowns who knows but it does seem to be a fairly common thing with loaches, just give you a heartattck the first time you see it thinking they are dead. One of my clowns seems to do this in the smae place at night in the v of a big piece of bogwood and gets rather grumpy if anyone else is in his spot.
