I was considering getting one for extra parasites/disease control - sterilization in QT or in between tank changes - he pointed out its useless in sterlization - though not alage control 100% duanes did mention it killing free floating spores such as bba that has free floating spores in the water column though. Apologize in advance if my grammar is off its Sunday night and im postponing going to bed as Monday is the start of my work week yuck- cant wait for Friday already

One of the misconceptions about UV and algae, is that it affects non-planktonic species.
UV will kill floating spores, and green water, but sessile stuff that grows on decor, substrate, or glass is really not phased at all.
Unless the algae flows/passes thru the UV unit, UV is of little use,

Backfromthedead I don’t expect it to kill algae inside the tank. Rather stop the spread so I can slowly get all the algae out of the tank.
