i did the same thing when i was little with an oscar, i also would clean the filters and everything under tap water because i had no clue about cycling or BB. Thank the dear Lord i know better now! some of my picky fish would be in a world of hurt if i didnt.

no more phoneLolz the dumbest thing i ever did was feed some of my cheap fish wild crickets from my backyard. They survived and growing but it had a parasite and leaked parasites through it body which created a huge hole in my fish. After tha no more wild food and a lot of water changes. Fish still there though.
I used similar sized Silver Dollars (fish) to boost the ego of the wimpiest Jaguar cichlid on earth.
Stupidest? Well it worked beyond perfectly. Within seconds all the silver dollars were dead. Nothing whatsoever to do with predation. No way the Jag could have come close to eating ANY of the Silver Dollars. It just brutally grabbed and smashed them into the walls of the tank. The Jag is now the baddest ass fish I have and rules the tank over much larger Dovi and Butterkofi Tilapia!
