Dumbest thing I have ever done in my life...

No no no. Everyone messes up. This was a sweatshirt, not a car. He's a young screw up. We all were. He needed you and hopefully will appreciate it in ten years. You taught him a lesson about family. It takes a screw up to make you learn. If no one is there for you, it teaches you something else completely. The embarrassment will hopefully suffice. Besides, you can have him wash your car for free for the rest of your life!

I agree. I know down the road he'll look back and thank you for saving his skin and having his back. You didn't really do anything wrong but look out for family. I wish I had family like you when I was young and did my dirt I didn't have any family to help me and now I'm grown I dislike my family and don't really talk to any of them.

I say just make sure he learns his lesson, and it was really cool of you,not to tell. The kid can't be dumb if he was smart enough to call you.Make him pay or let it go if he gets the talk.maybe tell him,if he gets into more trouble, then you will tell his parents about this.More importantly at his age is to fly straight,do good in school, and his life will be fine.

^^This Seriously. You did a good thing at a relatively cheap cost. Screw up? Yes! But worth the money in the end.

do you kno wat they do to kids in africa if they get caught jacking stuff?

Doesn't really matter since they do a lot of things in some places there that most here wouldn't even imagine doing.

That's true its petty theft and he will probably walk away but that's not always the case. I had a friend that did a 1-3 yr bid for petty theft he stole a display cell phone from a cell phone store.

do you know the value of cell phones though? it probably wasn't petty thought with most cell phones valued at several hundred dollars

he'll just be asked to pay and banned from the store for a couple of years. nothing serious. even had they called the cops, it'd just be a scared tactic. they'd come and file paper work then let him walk but an adult would have to come get him because he's a minor

It was the sidekick 08. So I would say $500-600. The thing is that it was the phone they use in the store as a display with the fake screens. Idk what's the Max value to consider it petty theft but if it is $750 then it was.
