On my 300 gallon tank I use only one of my overflows. I have a 1" 1/4 durso pipe in there with a 1/8" hole drilled at the top iike the directions said to do. My question is a 1/8" hole too small and not letting enough water flow down the pipe? Should i go bigger? I use a quiet one life gard pump and i went from the 2200 to the 4000. the pump supposed to be doing 1017gph. It dont seem like i have a ton of water rushing into my wet dry. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Oh ya i only use on over flow because i use a fluval fx5 as well. didnt want to hook up to wet drys.

As long as the overflow is keeping up, it should be working just fine. The gph rating will drop off as the head height increases. I would think that 1 1/4" should be fine.

Also, I would use both overflow in case one gets plugged. Just my $0.02

ya the over flow keeps up just fine with out any problems at all. brings in enough water and the pump returns it just fine. just seemed werid to me that some wet drys i see have a rush of water and my is just a steady stream. but i guess its enough. i might hook up the other over flow to the second wet dry i have and run both as well as the fx5.

my pump is under the tank so the heoght is about 48" from the pump to the inlet. so im sure its still pumping some gallons. the directions for the durso pipe said to use 1 1/4" pipe and not 1" or 1 1/2". so it seems to work fine and its not noisy as well.
