so my durso was still making alot of noise (flushing sound) i guess cause i had to many holes in the cap

so not having another 2'' cap on hand i took a piece of a spay paint can cap some silicone and a oneway air valve

so of course the sound is gone but i hope this is enough to alow the air to escape:confused:

but ill keep you guys posted

now the only other noise is the waterfall sound coming from my ac 110's

my water level is lower then the filters so the water splashes down and creates that sound

i cant just add more water because my overflow is setup at a calculated level so i dont over flow during a power outage ( and even if i did add water the extra would just fill up my sump any way)

so when i get some time on my hand i plan on siliconing some plexi glass on the bottom of the filters to allow the water to flow in opposed to splashing down.

it should work

ill post pix of course

ohh yeah :D back to the original post what do you guys think about the durso cap

That vent isn't there to allow air to escape, but to let air in. Right now you have a full syphon instead of a controlled flow. The check valve isn't necessary, either. Most durso stand pipes only have a vent without a valve. A new cap with just a single 1/8 inch hole will work great.

you just turned your durso into a syphon by not allowing it to suck air in now.

on another note, when you fix it again drill only ONE very small hole in the cap and gradually increase its size till its quiet and is working properly.

Be sure to post pics.

i fought with the hole size for a while... i found painters tape to be the best way to troubleshoot hole size..
