Durso Standpipes = OMFG SILENCE!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The return and drain (with the durso standpipe) both fit in my overflow

Mine still sucks in too much air, so it isn't anywhere near silent.
How much flow do you have and how big is the drain?

i wonder if it has something to do with the vent holes in the cap. have you messed with those?

- 150g, 1017gph pump, 1" bulkhead, 1.25" standpipe
- 400g, 3400gph pump, 2" bulkhead, 2" standpipe

I love mine..:grinno:

interesting. hadnt heard about that one. but my Dursos work perfect so like the saying goes, if it aint broke....:)

Now, to get the most out it, raise the invert (bottom) of the 'U' turn as high as you can so you don't hear the water splash as it fills the overflow box from the aquarium.

(Jose, that's why my system was so quiet)

The less distance the water has to fall from the overflow weir slots to the inside water level, the less noise it will make

Right there with you Jose, I was blown away too the day I set mine up. A total 180 degrees turn from how it sounded before. Less noise than a HOB... Mine looks a little different, same concept though.

What is came with:

if theres a will theres a way

2- 1" in the 6.75" overflow on my 220.. 1600gph or so...
the brown at the top is the top of a critterkeeper cut down to fit.. its great for keeping plants out of the overflow since i have a tank full of bulldozers..

My durso is super loud. It sucks and slurps and periodically flushes (like the sound of an industrial prison toilet flushing)...
