So what about this updated picture of my dwarf. Its got the extended dorsal rays, but appears to still look similar to the sp. 'orinoco'.

Or is it possible I have two different species? The female looks exactly like the sp. 'orinoco' with the double ocelli even. But the males remind me more of notos.

These are the most recent pictures I have of the male and female.

True, but the orinoco dwarves were described as exactly noto like, except the males were missing the extended dorsals. So the female should like identical in theory ... as would the males, minus the extensions.

just snapped some pictures of my noto's, or what i at least think are notos. first three pics are of my 2 females and the last two are of my one male. my males are much smaller as i got them only a month ago where as ive had the females for 7 months. right now there are no extensions on the males front few dorsal rays. i guess ill see if they are something that developes as they mature, or maybe there could be sp. orinoco.

Oh no, this is going to be an unsolved mystery.

Man, I wish people cared more to give us a geological description of the fish. Where it's from, what drainage, and so on... I guess it doesn't matter to them though, they get paid to catch and export the fish, not to be accurate on the description. I'm going to spend some time looking into this...

Wow, those females look orange instead of red ... not sure if it's the flash washing it out or what, but orange would be those cf. wallacii from Colombia.
