Hi Miles,

nice idea !
But I´ve seen that many hybrids stay smaller or get mature with the half size of pure breed wildcaughts.
And some captive breeds too.
Like with breeded cichlids.

I could see that..

Makes me still wonder if P14 Itaituba rays are a naturally hybridized ray that became locked into a single tributary from seasonal floods, only to create it's own species after a number of generations.

Notice P14 pups, when born, are very brown and look VERY much like a Scobina ray, which stays smaller. P14's, stay smaller, just like the Scobina rays.. Scobinas are also found in and around the same areas. Makes me wonder..

Someone needs to cross a Leo x Scobina.. and an Leo x Otorongo and see if any of the pups happen to resemble P14, especially the maturation of the color pattern from brown to black.

interesting theory miles.... hope it works out...

Hope the dream becomes a reality. If anybody can do it, you can!!!

Like others said.. If the Leo is the male, and the Otorongo is the female, then all offspring will be smaller than both the parents?..

I just think it's odd that some black rays have black/grey pups, while others have brown pups that morph colors with age. Obviously separates the species, but also hints at wild hybridization and a mixture of genetics at one point.

Sound nice miles. I love your way of unstoppable idea.
