Dwarf Mexican Crayfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have gotten one recently , he tend to swim around the tank a lot , is it normal behaviour ?

swim? you mean crawl right?

They can be pretty active. Are your parameters checking ouot alright? They can swim as well, they are active little buggers.

Mine is very active but I've never seen him swim. He's always crawling around and climbing everything.

yes , swim backwards , sort of thrusting itself backwards

If your CPO is tail flicking backwards all the time--I would say that is not normal behavior. Once in while is okay and some do tail-flick more than others. Has it settled down for you yet? If not can you tell us what is in the tank with it?

tankmates are four bumblebee goby and 5 ember tetras

what happend if the orange and the brown dwarf crayfish breed together?
Has anyone done so? I would like to know before I put them together.

would the offspring be some orange and some brown or a new color?

the gobies may be picking at it as they all live in the bottom strata. The other thought is that there is not enough hides for your crayfish to make it feel safe in the tank. I hope that things have improved.
