Dwarf Pikes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dwarfs will eat small fish, but prepared/frozen foods are best. I suppose if you raised them yourself and just used them as a supplemental food it would be kewl. I know of a few people that keep their Crenicichla comp. in a community tank with rummy nose, cardinal, and serpae tetras no prob.

There are so many variants within each species....dependin on the area of location. Check out www.tangledupincichlids.com ...aka Jeff Rapps. He gets in a WIDE assortment of pikes regularly....right now he has no dwarfs, but he does get in some nice variaties! ;)

Tetras, german rams, keyhole cichlids. You don't really wanna keep them with other predators cuz they are so small, and i don't really know of any other SA predators that stay small like the dwarfs. They would get bullied by the larger more aggressive cichlids. If you were gettin the larger pikes you could keep them with pbass, jags, caquetaia, festae...you name it.

Okay I have a 35 gallon tank with 8 black skirt tetras 2 angelfish 1 male krib 5 albino cories a clown pleco and a BN pleco. My question is if I sell / give away the tetras can I but a dwarf pike in there? If not what if anything would I have to get rid of also?

Thanks
Mike

I would just ditch the male crib....then put in the pikes...they should be alright in a tank that large with those other fish. You will need to move the angels to another tank as they grow, but aside from that it should be aight.
