Is it possible to breed these little fish in a ten gallon? I have had these fish only a couple days now and I'm reading about how they breed like bunnies on steroids. I'm thinking about breeding them in the tank and then just fishing out the babies when they get old enough and taking them to my lfs for a few extra bucks. So far I have positive male female pair and a possible second male (will probably get rid of second male if gender is confirmed). So is this a good idea or not and will my ghost shrimp eat the babies? So far the possible male is the size of a grain of rice and they never bother him.

Yes they will breed easily. The ghost shrimp wont bother the fry. Worse case imagine you might lose one or 2 at most but doubt even that.

If your going to seperate the fry than easy enough but if not use floating ,planted thick type plants (plastic is fine) and the fry will hide till old enough to move around without parents eating them.

Granted bigger tank more areas for fry to hide/avoid the parents but again easy to breed in 10 gallon as long as fry can hide from the adults.
I use floating plants.

I keep them outside all yr long with guppys and find them great fish . Platys/swordtails-mollies/guppys are underrated neat pretty fish.

I scoop out as many fry as I can. The fry stay by the plants on surface.
Give them to a friend with turtle pond as other wise would have thousands every year.

You might wind up keeping some because you could get interesting colors. Get another or bigger tank :naughty:

If you are going to do it for fun, go for it!!! However, if you are thinking of doing this as a way of making money, FORGET IT

Dont stick with a pair man. If you want to breed them get like 3-4 females for every male. 1 male and 3 females would work nicely for you in a 10g then youll soon have to make weekly trips to the lfs.

You WONT make any money, but if youre lucky the lfs will give you store credit to pay for their food.
