My LFS has a pair of "dwarf blue speckled cichlids". I asked the worker if they were really dwarf umbee and he said that they were. This is the first time I have seen any umbee for sale here and was wondering if anyone else has seen a dwarf version of these guys?

I have never heard of these,if you are considering these i strongly suggest to do some serious research first.

dwarf umbee sounds like BS to me. it's probably something like salvini or basketmouth cichlids that they're trying to claim as something else...
or maybe they are real umbees but he's trying to make them sound rare
i think they guy was lied to about them being dwarfs. cause this fish store doesnt like taking in cichlids that get real big because they arent that popular around here and if they do take them they dont give much credit for them. they only offered me 50 cents a piece for some juvie dovii but anyways i didnt think there was such a thing just wanted to ask you guys.

AT2 did u see them at pet paradise? i seen them as well and i want a umbee pair bad but i walked away from those quickly.
yeah that is where i seen them at. i was surprised when they didnt know what they really were. they usually know their stuff there.
