Dyed fish outrage

ps I urge people not to show their frustration by boycotting your local fish stores.

just walk on by that tank.

but you should still try and support them.

you have to understand that from a business perspective some LFS's cannot afford not to have dyed fish if they sell well.

and especially if they sell well and their competition has them.

If I choose not carry dyed fish and my competition does, and my customers all go there to buy these fish (and all their drygoods too) I would go out of business..

Its not what anyone would want, but thats life if a business wants to survive sometimes...

don't fault the owners of the store for trying to earn a living by giving their customers fish that they want.

fault the people in the industry who are making these fish in the first place...

most shop unless are private owned have a corporate made stock list that the store employees dont have control over. when i do fish orders i always write down that i have 10+ of ever artificially colored fish on the list so i dont have to buy any more.

what is sad is that they are also dying fish or tattooing them to make them look like fish that are naturally in the hobby already... Molly's with vertical stripes... how many fish are white with dark stripes on them... worse is that people see a fish with a tattoo and think that it could not really hurt that bad... I have one... of course their tattoo does not cover 2/3rds of their body and was given when they were 3 years old...

the worse part is the market they attract. we know better but all the newcomers have not got a clue as to how it is done and are just attracted buy the flouro colours. this is the first ive seen. the minute i saw theese i literally had a stomach ache. it just pains me to think what they suffered(the fish)
