When a fire eel
goes white it's usally going to die and there isn't much that can save it.
 
I lost a FIre before this one took off....it sux for sure. The are delicate when first placed into new enviroments.
 
from what ive noticed, fire eels are extremely sensitive to poor water quality.. mine got a fungal infection and his whole head and about half his body had a white cotton-like growth all over it.. i treated him for a week in a quarantine tank, and all the growth dissipated and he was doin better thank ever.. unfortunately he is starting to show signs of disease again
