dyi dual intake for fx5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the replys. I have now built a simple output tube for the fx5. It is just a 3/4 inch pvc that i drilled 3 3/8 holes right through it at the bottom. Now the pressure of the fx5 is directed right on the bottom of my bare bottom tank with some flow coming out the sides where i drilled the 3/8 holes. Works pretty good on the bare bottom but does not remove all the waste. Keeps the waste in a small pile though so it is easy to scoop out with a net.

Have you noticed since making 2 intakes that the FX5 is still keeping your tank clean like it did with just the single intake?

I was thinking about doing this when I made my 3/4" PVC intake and spraybar but I though itd loose alot of sucking power being split into 2 intakes like that. I might do this and just experiment with it.

Also do you think it would be better to use 2x: 1/2" PVC as intakes or 2x: 3/4"?

The fx5 Is doing a great job keeping the tank clean . It is hard to compare because before i had gravel in the tank with a xp3 and a ac70 running with the fx5. I would just use the 3/4 as that is close to the plumbing on the fx5. Once the lines are full of water it will create the same suction as 1/2 inch would.

OK thanks...

I was asking because the stock tubing is 1" ID, so I though 2x: 3/4" might be too big and itll loose some suction.

I'll give it a try too, thanks for posting your DIY! :headbang2
