Technically he's 13 now counting the barb.
Really is a shame though, I didn't think Geos would do that...let alone catch the barb...

Is this normal behavior from Geos?
JK47;4052266; said:That sucks Brian. Are you sure it intentianally went after the barb though? I had a satanoperca get a juvinile 1" orange head stuck in it's mouth after pulling it in during feeding time.

Sucks because the other 11" altifron is now sulking, even though they were both males they were inseparable. He is in with 6 seven inch abalios but doesn't really run with them.
JK47;4052397; said:I do not own any altifrons but do own a group of abalios and have never seen anything other than some conspecific aggression. I honestly think this was a freak accident. Do you feed with lights out or in the mornings? When ever they hit food from the top of the water they pull in quite a bit of water so you never know. Sorry for the loss either way.
ewok;4052402; said:wow i had no idea geos were like that! maybe bigger dithers like larger rainbows might work better... at least they have tall bodies and aren't so easily engulfed.
