Get a Heckelii! Not exactly an earth eater but a truely extremely beautiful fish. I bought mine from live fish direct and they are totally stunning. Probably the most beautiful fish I have. :D

i'm not familiar with the eel, but it sounds like it gets big...
i would recommend guinacaras... pretty cool and very peaceful

No, peacock eels are the smallest member of the spiny eel family and will get to 12" at it's absolute max, they also have very small mouths for eating worms.

And yes, i'm accepting recommendations from all of the eartheater genera.

Ya what would an average "orange head" cost you at a lfs?

geo "red head tapajos" will be a great addition. stays around the size you wanted and pretty peaceful. they will do better in a group.

its fun watching them shift through sand and move them around all over the tank.

5 outta 7 is good, and knowing your post history, you probably knew the other 2, just slipped your mind while typing.
And I also keep Gymnos cool, I tried keeping balzani and labiatus in upper 70s, and they wasted away. The Paso Pache I have now are in and unheated basement tank, in the low 60s.
Kept them in the pond last summer and air temps at night were down in the 40s, I thought they might not make it, but instead they bred.

Well, I got to look at the stocklist of the distributor my LFS is ordering from soon and decided to take a gamble on what they have listed as a "Jurupari" size "REG".

Obviously it's total roulette what species or for that matter even what genus it will be, but i'll be happy with whatever the fates decide. As long as it is an eartheater of some kind.

Hopefully I'll be able to pick something more specific after the new year when they order from their bigger distributor.

It's a very silly stocklist.. If you're into Crenicichla, you'll be pleased to know they offer both "Pike Reg" AND "Pike Med".

If they are real true S. Jurapari's i would not get them. IMO they are the.. how do i put this? ugliest eartheater out there.
