Could anyone list any Eartheater from the Satanoperca or Geophagus family that can reach 8"? If possible could you add growth rate on them? Thanks.

I know satanoperca daemon get over 8" since I have 2 wild caught adults that are about 9". Growth rate, I have no idea. Ask me in 6 months. I also have 6 juvies, but I just got them recently. I believe all of the satanopera reach 8", except maybe the mapiritensis. However, JK47 and others can better help you.

Oh sweet. Thanks. I don't want slow growers, since they might get eaten in my tank. ;) Just thinking about keeping eartheaters again haha

S. daemon, S. jurupari and S. leucosticta all get over 8". I don't have any personal experience with daemon, but the others grow about 1/2" per month for me. For Geophagus, G. abalios and G. altifrons are the commonly available ones that grow larger than that.

Ed

the only one i know for sure is s.deamon, I only know that because i saw it in a book im far from an expert, It also says that they have a fast growth rate given the right conditions. hope this helps

Oh not bad 1/2" a month. :)

Orange heads get to 8" too but it may take a while.

I wouldn't characterize S. daemon as fast growers. Took about a year for me to grow a pair from 2" to 8-9" - about the same rate as Ed's other Satanoperca species.

Trying S. acuticeps now and am not sure how big they will be eventually. Definitely not fast growers.

Just not sure if small ones can last a year in your tanks ;) Jeff had some adults not long ago.
 True, Adults cost to much for me. :(
