Eartheater Tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a 125 with:
7 Geophagus tapajos "Orange head"
5 Pelmatochromis buettikoferi
3 Laetacara flavilabris
2 Large Green Severum
2 Columbian Tetra
Plecos

Thinking of dumping the Pelmatochromis. Would like a pair of Pearlscale Zebra Angels, about ten more Columbian Tetras, and maybe a Prochilodus Flagtail.

I don't recommend this at all but...

G. Dicrozoster
G. Brasiliensis
G. Altifron

all with my Hoplias Curupira and a pair of Hoplerythrinus U in my main tank. It's a bit hit and miss and in th beginning the Curupira was trying to guage what would fit in his mouth, resulting in a couple of deaths. I had no choice but to persevere as I had no room for additional tanks. Now things have calmed and though there are still a few torn fins they are all at a size now where- touch wood- problems seem to have subsided. Previous to this, I've had my geo's live quite happily with Hydrolycus Tatauaia, Crencichla Venezuala and other predatory Characins.

I've got Hecklii growing out at the moment as well with some Ex-Cichlasoma Ornatus but i suppose Hecklii aren't strictly geophagus...
