Well you can sure as hell rule out Lugubris pike cichlids...lol.....seems almost impossible to get them to breed!

Convicts of course.. they'll even breed if seperated into 2 cups, one female in one, the male in the other. That is a hyperbole, though..

Before the Convict Cichlid was widely known as the easiest to breed cichlid, there was another 'beginning' breeding cichlid. The Blue Acara is also a very easy cichlid to breed, as is most of the fish in the aequidens family. If you can find a pair, you should try it, as they are alot less aggressive than convicts and have a great personality for a community tank..

I've tried for a few months to get my cons to breed. I have them in a 30G by themselves. They have a 4in clay pot in there, as well as the small round base for the pot. They have paired nicely, making me think at any moment there will be eggs, but just haven't seen any.

I dunno what it is but my JD's breed like no other i've had 3 pairs over the years and they all breed like molly's just over and over.
